How to Adjust a Relief Valve on a Danfoss PVG 32 Valve

Danfoss’s PVG 32 proportional valve is designed for maximum flexibility with technology that saves you time. This valve reduces heat generation and increases efficiency and power density, helping OEMs meet challenges posed by new diesel engine emissions legislation.

This product features load sense relief valves for A and B port, enabling reduced energy loss at target pressure. The relief valve is used to limit the maximum work port build-up on the A/B-ports individually.

The purpose of this relief valve is to prevent excessive pressure. It does so by diverting as much of the system flow back to the tank as needed to limit the pressure. Properly setting, inspecting, and maintaining pressure relief valves in a hydraulic system is key to operating a safe facility.

We’ve broken down the steps to adjust the relief valve on a Danfoss PVG 32 valve in just 3 simple steps.

  • Step 1: Locate the inlet relief valve – on the left side of the inlet when the handles are to the right.
  • Step 2: Using an allen wrench, turn the relief valve counterclockwise until it stops (lowest pressure).
  • Step 3: As you watch the pressure gauge, turn the relief valve clockwise until the desired pressure is reached.
