Fred's long career building dental equipment led him to design a special polyurethane tube for that industry, which is the foundation for Freelin-Wade. Freelin-Wade chooses Nylon 11 for their tubing because it has high chemical resistance properties while absorbing less moisture than other nylons. Freelin-Wade manufactures Nylon 11 tubing in a variety of sizes and colors.

Freelin-Wade was started in 1980 behind the vision of founder Fred Plews. Fred's long career building dental equipment led him to design a special polyurethane tube for that industry, which is the foundation for Freelin-Wade. Freelin-Wade uses two different classes of polyethylene for their tubing: Low Density Polyethylene (LDPE) and Linear Low Density Polyethylene (LLDPE). LDPE is more flexible while LLDPE has superior environmental stress crack resistance.
